Research into Audience Figures

By researching into audience figures of our specific genre, will help us to look at what films are being seen the most within the genre (so we can then see what the narrative of the film is/what the film is about).

We decided to look at the IMDB website as it shows us the most popular films and also gives us information on the films.
The three most popular films that there are at the moment are as follows:

1. The Revenant (2015)
2. Room (2015)
3. The Martian (2015)

As you can see all of these films are very recent as they have only been made last year. On the IDMB website, it gives each film a rating out of 10. The ratings that are given for each film that I stated above is below:

• The Revenant - 8.2/10 -

From these screenshots of the website, it shows to us the demographic breakdowns of the rating out of 10.  

In this picture above it gives a breakdown of gender and age of who is actually voting for the film, how many votes there are and the averages that are being scored by the vote.

From this screenshot, it breaks down the audiences rates into the different ages and genders of who has actually viewed the film.

 

 





By looking at the demographic breakdown of each of the three favourite films, then shows to us how many people are watching the films and what they are actually rating the films.

 

We are going to include characters that will be relatable to the audience that will specifically want to watch our film. In addition to this, by asking an audience questionnaire will help us to see any conventions that they may want to see in that genre and also anything they will want us to specifically include.
