Evaluation Question 3

What kind of institution might distribute your media product and why?

I think that an independent institution would distribute our film opening because it isn’t full of all of the glossy features that a mainstream film would be. We didn’t have a massive budget and therefore, we weren’t able to use advanced special effects, have Hollywood actors/actresses cast in it and use top of the range technology.

I think that is we were to have our film distributed, it would be by a company such as Fox Searchlight. This institution is independent. Fox Searchlight has distributed films such as ‘Bend it like Beckham’ and ‘28 Days later’. Fox searchlight is a sister company to the large American company, 20^th Century Fox. It focuses on distributing British and independent films in the US.

Our film would be released because it focuses on life situations that audiences would be able to relate to. Despite this I don’t think that there would be a franchise to this as the film is based around a situation rather than the characters themselves so therefore the only way the film could be made into a franchise is if we were to turn the story around to be based more so on to the characters.

I think that the film would be distributed into film stores and II also think that it could be released onto the independent section on streaming websites such as Netflix.
